Koret Children's Center Opens in Golden Gate Park

July 31, 2007
Angotti & Reilly Inc. has completed the renovation of America's oldest children's playground located in Golden Gate Park taking it into its third century.

Mayor Gavin Newsom and other dignitaries, plus about four hundred excited children and parents dedicated the playground as Koret Children's Quarters Saturday morning, July 14, 2007. The 2+ acre playground was originally built in 1887 and has served generations of San Francisco children plus numerous visitors at its location near the eastern edge of the park.

Angotti & Reilly Inc. completed its 12 month, $2.5 million contract on time in March. A number of other structures were completed by artists working directly for the City between March and July.

The work involved the complete demolition of the old park except for the historic slide. The new work included new drainage systems, regrading, water features, multiple play structures, grass areas and permanent seating.

The architect for the project is Larry Wright of MIG, Berkeley, Ca. The Angotti & Reilly team included: Kevin Reilly, Project Manager; Angel Jaurez, Superintendent, Anthony Euan, Project Engineer and Jim Reilly, Executive.
